About the event
Objectives of workshop: Overview of patient centred care approach, (Including the mobile stroke unit), functional interpretation of brain CT or MRI from a physician point of view compared to the ordinary radiology report, understand the Evidence based practical aspects of stroke rehabilitation and building and working in an interdisciplinary team and formulating multidisciplinary team. Also to be able to assess and manage disabilities related to stroke in the early stage of the disease. Addittionally it will focus on the following:
- Assessment and management of post stroke complication
- To describe the role of the rehabilitation physician among the multidisciplinary team in the management of stroke
- Back to the future, Utilisation of technology and video games in restoration of function in stroke survival
- The promising benefit of AI (artificial intelligence) in stroke management
- Building a link between acute care and other care providers in the hospitals and community
- Support family medicine clinics in providing care for stroke survival and implementation of primary preventative measures to reduce the risk of stroke
Learning outcomes: To familiarise yourself with the stroke presentation, extraction of symptoms and formulation of management plans, characterisation of deficits and disabilities in stroke patients on presentation and formulation of short- and long-term management plan. Also to develop competency in managing stroke patients from the early stage through to community integration, confidence in identifying and treating post stroke spasticity using pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
Method of Delivery: Pre-reading materials, lectures and interactive discussion
Work Plan: Presentation and open discussion of the theoretical part, problems based discussion followed by cases demonstration
